Why Plug Valves are better than Ball Valves
Valves are very importance devices, which control the flow of liquids and gases in a lot of situations. Examples of valve usage are in gas appliances at home (these use plug valves), and the assembly in toilet tanks. Water spigots outside homes also have valves.
Valves have different function, porting, longevity, type, and control capability. Ball valves and plug valves, on the other hand, perform the same function. Both control the flow of gas/liquid either in a simple on/off function or as a multipath function.
Now, to make it easier for you to understand the differences of the two, here are some reasons why plug valves are better than ball valves:
Plug valves can replace ball valves while ball valves cannot replace plug valves.
Plug valves can be used more easily. Ball valves, on the other hand, have a space between the body and the ball. When the ball valve is installed and the plant is closed for maintenance or weekend stop, some medium remains within the space. When the plant runs again, the medium needs to be cleaned. This is a typical problem in chemical and food factories. In serious cases, if the stop time is very long, the medium cannot be cleaned completely, making ball valves useless.
